Hollywood is the center of American pop culture, a land of smoke and mirrors whose denizens are devoted to an endless cycle of adulation and artifice. From the gutter to the red carpet, success can be measured in how well one's facade is sustained. This project investigates the disparity between the idealized Mecca of Tinseltown and the harsh reality that confronts it's pilgrims. Along with the celebrities that populate their dreams, tourists find countless flawed imitations, runaway teens, prostitutes, lost and desperate wanderers on the Avenue of Stars. The city becomes a post modern Janus, it's twin identities inseparable yet conflicted, each as real as the other.
